It's hard to believe that we travelled half-way across the country in drought conditions and now there's water everywhere! It poured rain overnight so not only were the fields and ditches full to overflowing, but we rode through about a 5 mile stretch of road that had several sections that were covered with several inches of water. Does that count as bike cleaning? :) We spent most of the day riding by rice fields and crawfish farms Got me to thinking about how the heck rice farming actually works - planting, maintaining, harvesting, etc. Hmmm. There were lots of interesting birds, including egrets and white cranes, which always flew away before I could get my camera out and fired up.
I found a new favourite frozen treat today called Yogurtland. Pour your own favourite flavour of frozen yogurt and then top it with fruit &/or candy. Yum! That spandex keeps stretching!
We're in a stretch of big mileage. 85 miles today (Lake Charles LA to Lafayette LA) after 77 miles yesterday and about 96 tomorrow. Then a rest day. I think I'll be pretty happy for it. I don't think we have internet for the next few days so I'll do another post when we're back in civilization.
