An Idyllic Day in HIll Country

Well, we survived day 2 in Hill Country. In fact we more than survived; it was an absolutely idyllic day. Beautiful scenery, comfortable temperatures, blue skies, both rolling hills & challenging hills (2 with grades of 10 - 15% for significant stretches), apple pie, bluebonnets (the state flower) and Texas Longhorn cattle. And - there was even water in the rivers! We rode 52 miles from Vanderpool TX to Kerrville TX. 3700 feet of climbing. I understand that this was our last big climbing day (but then I've been wrong before). The hills were satisfying. In spite of the grades they were entirely do-able. In fact, dare I say it - they were fun! There were also a few really fun off-setting downhills. A big steak dinner at the YO Ranch Branding Iron restaurant tonight. A day off tomorrow. Perhaps a trip to San Antonio to check out the River Walk and the Alamo. I haven't checked the odometer, but I believe we're close to halfway through the trip. Time has really flown!

  1. Can't say I have ever called a hill "satisfying'!

    1. Have you ever called one "fun"? They were satisfying because we're now strong enough to ride them fairly easily. You'll get there :)
