On the Boulevard.....

Our stop for tonight is a small dot on the map called Boulevard CA. So small, in fact, that we have filled the one motel in town and have had to house 4 at another motel in another burg. It was another great/not so great day. The highlights - so good to be on the bike making snail's pace progress to the east coast, climbing over 4700 feet today & still feeling great and (best of all) Easter M&M's for snacks! The weather, though, was still not cooperating. When we rose about 7:30 the cold rain was pouring down. However - by the time we pulled away about 9 the rain had pretty much stopped. It would come and go during the day. I don't think it got over 10C all day so while I stayed comfortable (mostly in shorts) my feet were a bit frozen at times. We had fresh snow by the side of the road and a bit still on the shoulders. And, yes, we did see a snowplow on the road at one point. Of course we had to stop at the pie shop to thaw out! Yummy!! The climbing was actually a good thing - it kept us warm. My Canadian blood worked in my favour; while I wasn't particularly thrilled with the weather, it really wasn't too much of an issue. Close to a third of our troops, however, chose to ride in the van or the SAG vehicle today. Finally by the time we checked into the motel the sun came out and the forecast for the next few days is a vast improvement over what we've had - woohoo!
